Beginners in 2014 Please note that there are no formal Beginners' Courses scheduled at present for 2014. New students are encouraged to watch then join our regular Tuesday basics class from 6.30-8pm. Cost is $10 per class plus mandatory Aiki-Kai insurance and membership fee of $54 full/$30 concession for 2 months.
Beginners' Courses - a new way of thinking and doing
Beginner's Courses are a great introduction to the fascinating philosophy and powerful techniques of Aikido with a strong focus on student safety and development. The Brunswick Dojo offers a highly developed and succesful introductory program based on eight week courses run throughout the year.
Interested people are most welcome and encouraged to watch a class prior to deciding to enrol. Due to course demand, students are encouraged to enrol as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. A $50 (non-refundable) deposit is required to secure your enrolment, please pay this deposit (or the full payment) at least a week before the course starts.

Venue: Brunswick Baptist Church Hall, rear 503 Sydney Rd, Brunswick (cnr Blyth St & Sydney Rd) Course Outline:
§ Warm up and stretching exercises
§ Introduction to the concept and utilization of Ki
§ Introduction and practice of Ukemi (safe receiving techniques)
§ Basic postures and stances
§ Practicing basic Aikido techniques
§ More advanced demonstrations by senior students and Instructor
Course Aims and Objectives:
§ A co-coordinated programme to experience Aikido over an eight week period
§ An introduction to the basic principles of Aikido, especially that of Ki
§ An awareness of conflict resolution through physical and mental flexibility
§ Improving fitness and confidence through bodily awareness and movement
§ An understanding of using Aikido principles in daily life
§ An opportunity to become a member of the Aiki-Kai organization
Junior rates apply to suitable students between 12 and 15 years old (parents permission required).
